Motor-LAB will accurately compute the optimum operating modes for any salient or non-salient permanent magnet AC motor. Automatic FEA calibration accounts for saturation and cross coupling effects. Motor-LAB can be used alongside a variety of electromagnetic design tools, including industry leaders SPEED and Flux. Loss modelling is achieved with methods that account for copper loss, iron loss, magnet loss and mechanical loss. Accurate iron loss models can be built using automated FEA calculations.
Using these methods torque/speed characteristics can be simply modelled and loss or efficiency maps plotted. Driving cycles can be generated using either the built in vehicle model and existing industry standard cycles, or by inputting the user's own torque and speed data. These points can be overlaid onto any plot. Alternatively, the losses and efficiencies for the motor model can be calculated across the cycle and exported to Motor-CAD for an analysis of thermal performance.
